Disaster Ministries
We are a global-reaching organization called to respond to both natural and human-caused disasters, providing physical, financial, emotional, and spiritual care to those affected.
On Friday, July 4, 2025, Kerr County, Texas experienced significant flash flooding after experiencing over 12 inches of rain overnight. This flooding tragedy killed at least 43 people, and has left dozens more missing, include 27 girls from Camp Mystic, a nondenominational Christian summer camp. The Disaster Ministry Team at the National Ministry of the United Church of Christ has been in contact with the Conference Disaster Response Coordinator and the Conference Minister for the South Central Conference to monitor the situation and determine how best to support communities as we learn more about the devastation.
We continue to hold all of those affected by the storms, and their loved ones in our prayers.

Gracious God,
We find ourselves in difficult times as we sit in solidarity with our family in Christ that has been affected by the significant flooding in Kerr County, Texas and beyond.
We thank you for always being beside us as we continue to learn more about the devastation caused by this storm.
We pray for the families that have lost a loved one, we pray for the families that are facing uncertainty as they await news about their loved ones, and we pray for those who have lost their homes and businesses.
We ask that you provide us with strength as we grieve together, pray together, and rebuild together.
We trust in your greatness that you will bring peace to all those affected by this storm.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

The Global HOPE team facilitates the UCC’s response to natural and human-caused disasters across the United States and its territories and around the world.
Hand in hand with our Partners in Service and other volunteers, congregations, conferences, and partnerships, including a network of Conference Disaster Response Coordinators, UCC Disaster Ministries seeks to serve the most vulnerable populations, focusing on disaster preparedness, identifying and meeting unmet needs, and spiritual and emotional support.
The UCC is an active member of National VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), through which we partner with dozens of organizations, large and small, for holistic, community-based recovery.
Internationally, Global HOPE maintains direct relationships and partnerships with organizations and faith communities able to appropriately and effectively respond to emergencies and long-term needs. The Global HOPE Team Leader works with Area Executives of Global Ministries and through organizations such as Church World Service and the ACT Alliance to direct financial support and ensure the United Church of Christ stands with vulnerable people during times of crisis.
